The Penguin Grow a Garden is a Rare pet that reduces egg hatch time by 25 seconds every 60 seconds — targeting the egg with the most remaining time. It hatches from the Legendary Egg at approximately 26%, making it the most common Rare pet from that egg pool. It is the most accessible budget option for egg-hatching builds before players can access Kiwi, Blood Kiwi, or Bald Eagle.

Penguin — Rare Legendary Egg pet reducing egg hatch time by 25 seconds every 60 seconds. Best accessible egg-hatching pet for mid-game players.
Every 60 seconds, targets the egg with the longest remaining time.
The Penguin always targets the egg with the highest remaining hatch time — not random. This means it naturally focuses effort on the slowest egg in your garden, which is the most beneficial targeting system possible for multi-egg setups.
Multiple Penguins each fire independently every 60 seconds. Three Penguins means 75 seconds of hatch time removed per minute — turning a 4-hour Legendary Egg into roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Legendary Egg is the only source.
| Pet | Rarity | Legendary Egg Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Penguin | Rare | ~26% |
| Axolotl | Rare | ~26% |
| Kiwi | Rare | ~22% |
| Polar Bear | Legendary | 2.13% |
| Legendary Turtle | Legendary | 2.13% |
The Legendary Egg costs 3,000,000 Sheckles or 129 Robux and takes 4 hours to hatch. It appears in the Pet Shop in approximately 12% of 30-minute refresh cycles. Penguin's ~26% rate makes it the most common outcome — players farming Legendary Eggs for Polar Bear will hatch many Penguins along the way. Keep them for a stacked hatch-speed build.

How to combine Penguin with other hatch-speed pets for fastest results.
Fill all three pet slots with Penguins. Each removes 25 sec/min — total 75 sec/min reduction. A 4-hour Legendary Egg becomes approximately 90 minutes. Simple, accessible, and effective.
Rooster adds 20% passive hatch speed. Chicken adds 10% passive hatch speed. Penguin adds 25 sec/min timer reduction. All three systems stack — this is the best mid-game setup without event pets.
When Bald Eagle becomes available, replace all Penguins. Eagle removes 70 sec every 7 min with 70% chance to double. At full stack of 3 Eagles, a 4-hour egg hatches in under 30 minutes.
Blood Kiwi removes ~46 sec per trigger vs Penguin's 25 sec — nearly double the reduction rate. Replace Penguins with Blood Kiwis when available from the Lunar Glow event for significant speed gains.
When to use Penguin and when to upgrade.
For players actively hatching eggs — farming specific pets, trying to reach high weights, or running bulk egg hatching sessions — the Penguin provides real time savings. Three stacked Penguins cut a 4-hour egg to 90 minutes, meaning you can hatch 2–3 eggs in the time it would take without hatch pets. For players who hatch eggs regularly, this acceleration meaningfully increases weekly pet volume.
The main reason to upgrade past Penguin is throughput. Blood Kiwi (event-limited) and Bald Eagle both significantly outperform Penguin's 25 sec/min reduction. When those become available, replacing Penguin provides a large jump in hatch speed. Until then, Penguin is the best mid-game option and the most common Legendary Egg output — players farming for Polar Bear or Legendary Turtle will accumulate many Penguins naturally. Using them in a stacked hatch build while farming is the highest-value use of those extras.

Where Penguin fits across the full hatch-speed pet hierarchy.
The egg hatch pet progression in Grow a Garden follows a clear path from accessible to endgame. Chicken (Uncommon Egg, 10% speed) and Rooster (Uncommon Egg, 20% speed) are the starting point — passive multipliers available from the cheapest eggs. Penguin and Kiwi are the mid-game step — both remove 25 seconds every 60 seconds through timer reduction rather than speed multiplier. Blood Kiwi and Bald Eagle are the late-game options — higher reduction values but limited availability through events.
Penguin occupies a clear and useful position in this chain. It does more than Rooster and Chicken for dedicated egg farmers who are hatching 4-hour Legendary Eggs regularly, but is accessible enough to obtain through standard Legendary Egg farming. Players who are already farming Legendary Eggs for Polar Bear or other targets naturally accumulate Penguins — converting those into a hatch-speed setup while continuing to farm is the optimal use of extras. For how the full egg system works and hatch timing across all egg types, see our egg hatching calculator guide.
As the most common outcome from the Legendary Egg at ~26%, players who farm for Polar Bear or Legendary Turtle will accumulate many Penguins. The most efficient use of duplicates is to build a stacked 3x Penguin hatch setup while continuing to farm. Once Blood Kiwi or Bald Eagle become available, trade or sacrifice existing Penguins rather than stockpiling.
Trade value is modest given the high hatch rate — most serious traders do not seek Penguins as primary trade targets. However, there is consistent demand from new players building their first hatch-speed setup who haven't accumulated enough yet. A Huge or Titanic Penguin has meaningfully more trade value than a base-weight one, as the egg hatch reduction does not scale with weight but the collector value does.
